Modern Australian fare meets Asian fusion all under the one roof with Burnt Ends Kitchen & Bar – an exciting addition to The Barracks precinct at Petrie Terrace. Offering a variety of dining styles, from busy bar-style seating to intimate private dining, Burnt Ends will appeal to a wide range of foodies.

Burnt Ends proprietor TJ Peabody says a state of the art coal-fired kitchen is at the heart of the Burnt Ends experience. “Our coal-fuelled cooking appliances were custom designed for Burnt Ends and built right here in Brisbane,” TJ says. “They’re the largest of their kind here in the city.”

Executive chef Gordon MacGregor says his kitchen staff have been put through extensive training to understand and master the unique coal-fuelled cooking technique. “It is definitely trickier to cook on coals compared to gas but we can incorporate some amazing aromas into our proteins by adding hickory-infused wood chips and aromatic herbs like rosemary, sage and thyme,” Gordon says.

Burnt Ends is the fourth venue in NKB Group’s restaurant portfolio alongside Nativo Kitchen & Bar (also at The Barracks), Nickel Kitchen & Bar (Fortitude Valley) and NKB Express (Indooroopilly). Brisbanites who knew and loved NKB Group’s Nantucket Kitchen & Bar (previously at Indooroopilly) will be pleased to see elements of that popular venue have made their way over to Burnt Ends.

Remember, diamonds come from coal. And you can expect similar gastronomic gems from this exciting dining destination.

Absolutely fantastic. We booked for our anniversary and we had a fabulous night. We were seated in a nice quiet spot which was perfect. The tables are all spaced well away from others so that you can’t overhear much conversation. We had the Clam starter and then the 1kg steak to share, plus an additional side of the pumpkin. The food was absolutely stunning, so delicious and obviously very good quality. The broth that the clams were in was delicious and the clams were sweet and not overly fishy. The steak was hands down the best steak I have ever eaten, cooked perfectly and so tasty that you didn’t even need the sauce that came with it. The accompanying vegies were delicious. Our waiter was fantastic and really attentive and happy to accommodate any request. He suggested a whisky to my partner that was very well received and made our night even better. This was one of the best meals I have had and I cannot wait to go back!
